Woman says she had sex with man while she was in a taxi
MARILYN TRAVEL AGENCY MANILA – A woman who was on a trip with her family has accused a man of forcing her to have sex while she had a taxi ride with him, police said on Friday.
Police in the city of Cebu said the woman, named only as A, was travelling in a cab on Wednesday night when the man allegedly pulled out his phone to film her.
“A told the taxi driver, ‘I don’t want to go on a taxi without you.
I’m a passenger,'” Cebuan Police Chief Ronald Ramos told reporters.
Police did not immediately give the woman’s age or a possible motive for the alleged crime.
The man allegedly admitted to the crime.
Ramos said police are investigating whether the man’s behavior was a sign of a possible crime against a child or a violation of the country’s penal code.
Authorities have been investigating reports of sexual abuse in the Philippines, including allegations of forced marriage, sexual exploitation and sex trafficking.
A case was filed with the police, Ramos said.
The Philippine government does not have an official policy on the issue.
But a 2012 government report on sexual exploitation in the country said that the Philippines has a “high rate of forced marriages, forced marriage by men of poor family status, and other forms of sexual exploitation” by “a very high number of men of low social status”.
